Foodie Friday: Summer Wedding Food On A Stick!

Summer wedding food in 2013 is all about food on a stick! I have seen everything on a stick, including paninis…not sure that is good stick food, but kudos for trying!  These are my current top picks for summer wedding food on a stick.

Summer Wedding Food On A Stick

Caprese skewers are ALWAYS a wedding food winner. Love the presentation with these ones. Sea salt and fresh olive oil are a must with caprese. From With Style and Grace.

sushi on a stick for summer wedding foodNow this is just brilliance. Fresh, clean and cute. Be wary of serving sushi at an outdoor wedding, I would say that could be a big wedding don’t! This is really cue though…try it for indoor weddings or engagement parties. From Better Recipes.

Summer Wedding Cocktails! Flirty and Fun Ideas

Summer Wedding Cocktails! Flirty and Fun Ideas

If your wedding is inspired by simpler times, fun, and the essence of summer, consider adding a fun wedding cocktail into the mix. These work particularly well if you are hosting a wedding with no children, otherwise, be sure to mark alcoholic and non-alcoholic items very clearly! Either way these summer wedding cocktails are great fun! Also great for outdoor weddings in the heat of summer.

Blush Wedding Ideas and Inspiration

Blush is a popular wedding color this year, and in my opinion one of the most romantic and/or whimsical colors you can choose for your wedding. I am inundated every day with blush wedding ideas; and because even I love the color, I thought it would be fun to show a few of them off. Blush can be a part of almost any combination of wedding colors, and can add a subtle softness and romance.

The Latest Blush Wedding Ideas

This came from Ruffled. A finger corsage? This is surely something new. What do you think? I still haven’t made up my mind…seems itchy.

Color Palettes: Fresh Wedding Colors

The sun is finally shining in Portland and I have been really inspired by the new wedding color palettes for the 2013 wedding season. Everything seems fresh, new, and crisp! If you are still choosing your wedding colors, be sure to check out the Art Of Weddings Guide to Choosing Wedding Colors – Part One. Choosing the wedding colors can really be one of the hardest parts of the wedding planning process, and I always encourage brides not to rush into the decision and to really see everything that is out there. And that is where I come in…here are some of the latest color inspirations I have found…

Fresh Wedding Colors for 2013

mint wedding colorsAdding gold into a mint wedding palette makes mint seem almost royal. This is a fabulous color palette. It is cool, but with depth and vibrancy. Foodie Friday: Juice Bar – Do or Don’t?

Real Weddings Reception

Foodie Friday: Juice Bar – Do or Don’t?

I have mixed feelings on the idea of a juice bar at a wedding reception or bridal shower. Maybe it comes from one experience where I was working as an actress in a movie and had to consume almost an entire bottle of grape juice in a matter of an hour. It was the biggest sugar high I have ever had, which was followed with a HUGE sugar crash and some damage to my digestion system. So maybe, I am jaded. Truly, I love the idea of a fresh juice bar. In fact, I have a fresh smoothie every morning and think making new combos is great fun. I also love the look of all the clean, and fancy juice bars I have seen for weddings on Pinterest. But somehow, I keep going back to the idea that the entire party will be on a massive sugar high for an hour, and then you better get them leave…because the crash will be a party killer.

What do you think? Too much sugar? Here are some photos and other juice bar ideas to help you decide for yourself.

Bridal Shower or Reception Juice Bar Ideas

78046cc90a3b3ee57176010f8e459ae6See! This looks so fun, and the colors are beautiful! I love the added touch with the mason jar lids on this one. From Cobblestone Rue.

juice bar weddingThe colors are still fabulous! I love orange for weddings. See my recent DIY Dried Fruit Wedding Garland post for proof. Another great example of a juice bar done right! Lots of details make this the perfect juice bar, if a juice bar is a good idea…the jury is still out. This inspiration from Vermont Vows.

mimosa bar, juice bar, weddings, bridal showerUmmm…now we are talking! This is a wedding idea I can jump behind! An upgraded version of the juice bar idea. Still great colors, but somehow adding booze makes it not seem so sugary! I am aware I may be the only one who thinks that. Lol! 🙂 Now that we’ve seen some juice bars done right…here is one done wrong. Could not find the source for this one. 🙁

Juice Bar

This seems like an advertisement for Simply Orange and all its’ brothers and sisters. Neutral vases or pitchers are the way to go. This is a definite wedding don’t in my book.

Okay, with all this evidence…you be the judge and jury! Is a juice bar for a bridal shower or reception a wedding do or don’t? Taking responses on Facebook and in the comments. Go.

Summer Wedding Favors

I can tell I am excited about summer and summer wedding season, because I keep saying to myself, “That would be perfect for a summer wedding this season!” It makes me chuckle to myself, but today, I’ve put together a list of wedding favors that are just that, perfect for a summer wedding. Living in the Pacific Northwest (Portland, Oregon), I would say they are even more appropriate for a Oregon wedding or Washington wedding. Take a look at what I found today! Yes, I am usually, really, that excited about everything. 🙂

Vintage Inspired Wedding Dresses by Jenny Packham

Who doesn’t love to look at vintage inspired wedding dresses? If they are female, and they don’t…they must not be human. I fell in love with designer Jenny Packham while browsing her site for the latest wedding fashion. The wedding dresses were full of glitz, glamour, and a certain sexiness that is not easy to achieve.  I saw a lot of Downton Abbey wedding dresses (or could have been) in this mix. These vintage inspired wedding dresses from the 2012 Collection were my favorites…

9e2d668cd693a62e3d7b2258b72ce124Ormlie. This is romantic. The bodice is gorgeous and is perfect for all those skinny girls out there.

Peony. This one is romantic and whimsical. It makes me think of fairies, forests, and fields of flowers.

Iris. This is a fascinating dress. Stylish, elegant, and really perfect in a lot of ways. This one could even be worn again for another formal event. Downton Abbey meets 2012.

Anya. I have recently lost interest in strapless wedding dresses, but if I wore forced to wear one, this would be my pick. I love the almost corset top. Stunning.

All of these vintage inspired wedding dresses can make you feel as though you stepped out of Downton Abbey…and I love it. These ones are from her 2012 Collection, and perhaps a post on the 2013 collection is coming soon. Check out the Jenny Packham website for  more gorgeous wedding dresses and accessories.
