We love supporting other blogs and wedding sites. When it comes down to it we all pull from each other when it comes to wedding advice, tips, and decorations. There are only so many original ideas out there but what makes all these wonderful blogs thrive is we all have our own way of seeing things. We are just honored that you like the way we see things and take the time to visit our wedding blog. Our love for weddings is the special unity of two people coming together. It’s such an amazing thing for two individuals to find each other in this crazy world and know that this is the person I want to spend and enjoy life with.
A great blog named Intimate Weddings focuses on just that. Small events with less than fifty guests at them. Now you may be thinking, how is that even possible?! It is but it takes some careful planning and sticking to plans. If you want a small backyard wedding with only thirty guests then make it happen! Don’t worry about who will be hurt if they don’t attend. This is your day and if that’s what you both want then do it.
The one thing we do recommend is hiring a seasoned wedding professional. Looking back on your images brings back the day like it just happened, I truly enjoy that.
Here’s the link to view our wedding on the Intimate Wedding Blog. Also, you’ll find a great list of local Oregon wedding vendors that I used for the event. I would work with any of them again in a heartbeat and the day wouldn’t have been what it was without all their hard work. Enjoy and thanks for following us.
We aren’t talking the alcohol kind, no instead we are going to show you a few different unique “bar” ideas for your guests at your wedding reception. Anything you like can be turned into a bar. Say you love pancakes? Why not have a breakfast wedding with a pancake bar? Have different kinds of fruit toppings, syrups and more for your guests to customize their food. Love donuts? Create a donut bar instead of cake for dessert. Planning a summer wedding? Cool your guests down with yummy ice cream or shakes. The options are endless. Whatever you turn into a “bar” be sure it’s something you love. This will be a chance to share something you enjoy with all your family and friends. Below are some ideas to get you started and there may be one bar with some adult drinks in it! Enjoy!
Let’s start with something for the men. A cigar bar is always a fun addition to the reception. It’s a great way for the guys to get some time to bond. We have seen a number of them at events and they are always great.
A bloody Mary bar is a great idea for an afternoon event. We also like this idea because your guests can still enjoy it without the alcohol if they prefer. Be sure to have a variety of hot sauces and lots of veggie toppings.
The donut bar. We are spoiled in Portland with some very fun and yummy donut joints, aka Voodoo. This would be great to have next to your coffee station. Group them by flavor and be sure to label them for your guests.
It only makes sense to talk about a coffee bar following the donuts. Turn a boring table with a pot of regular and decaf into a caffeine experience for your guests. You could have different flavored creamers, coffee brewed from different regions and even have someone on hand making espresso drinks. How ever you do it, coffee is a loved drink. A hot chocolate bar is a great idea to add to the coffee bar as well.
The bar that started it all, the candy bar! I remember when I first saw a candy bar at a wedding reception. I thought, this is the best idea! Adults turn into kids when they see their favorite candy. Be sure to get a mix of new and old brands. Add small bags so guests can fill them with their fav’s and it turns into a great wedding favor as well!
Have fun creating a bar filled with your favorite drink, dessert, or food at your wedding reception!
With most of the excitement geared toward women for a wedding it’s important to remember the man in your life. He too is going to be seen by everyone and should look his best on your big day. There are many options for men when it comes to suits. First, a well fitted suit is key. It may be worth it to invest in one he can own and wear again then getting a rental that looks like it’s a size too big. We headed to J. Crew to see some stylish options and show you some of their fun fabrics.
Let’s start formal with a tuxedo jacket. It’s clean, simple and classic. Priced at $388 for the jacket.
Next up a nice grey italian wool in houndstooth. Coat is $450.
We love the color of this blue suit coat. By adding a pop of color with the tie we think this suit will stand out and your man could be your something blue! Coat is $525.00.
Head over to J. Crew to see all their options and find something that will be in his closet for years after your wedding.
The new year is upon us. We hope you had a nice and relaxing holiday break. We certainly enjoyed taking some to relax, bake, spend time with friends and eat! With a new year comes a fresh start. Many people like to make a resolution of some kind but to us that seems like a lot of pressure. Why not resolve to be better at the little things? Smile more, give a stranger a day a compliment, spend more time with your good friends and family and work smarter, not harder.
2013 proved to be a challenging year for many, including us, but we are always thankful for the lessons learned. Without hard times we wouldn’t appreciate the good. We already feel the heaviness of 2013 coming off our shoulders and are very excited for 2014!
