Inspiration: A Tale As Old As Time

This Beauty and the Beast inspired shoot is quite simply breathtaking. We love everything about it and applaud all the talented local vendors who collaborated on it. Read on to see all the gorgeous images by Lauren Reber Photography and get lost in the magical story as told to us by Cindy of Peachy Keen Coordination

“Tales as Old as Time” …. A romantic tale of the Beauty and the Beast and their journey of understanding that people are not always what they appear to be and ‘perhaps there’s something there that wasn’t there before.’ Our team of wedding professionals took this enchanting story and elevated it with the union of Adam (the Beast) and Belle in an intimate ballroom in Vancouver, Washington.  Wedding talent came together from all over Oregon to collaborate on one of the most beloved classic tales ever told.

“With the cinematic release of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast earlier thus year, we really wanted to create something special and a bit more avant garde while still respecting the merged concept of softness, deco, and modernization,” explains Cindy Crowder of Peachy Keen Coordination. “Rather than popping all literal details from the classic story, we pulled elements that people recognize and love. Colors were warm and inviting with romantic marsala, timeless navy, and of course the ornate gold. Local talents were presented with these initial ideas and were then invited to enhance/embellish in their own innovative way while still representing their brand. It was important to us that our modern day rendition was able to inspire contemporary, real life brides while still representing each of our own unique styles.”

Inspired by the moving story, Off the Vine Calligraphy transformed the message from simply ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to ‘he learned to love another’ which related to the other vendors the idea of ‘what if we were to create the wedding of Belle and Beast (Adam)?’

Brickstone Ballroom was bustling with energy when the photographers walked on set. Cups of coffee were dotting every available surface as the vendors got to work. Spiked with the power of caffeine everyone was full of giggles and smiles. The group bonded together in a very strong cohesive unit creating magic which was apparent as Belle and Adam danced to the familiar ‘Tale as Old as Time’ by Angela Lansbury.

Paired in harmony for dessert was a simple white fondant cake created by Dream Cakes with sugared roses as a nod to the spell once cast on Adam, our beast. The cake was beautifully contrasted by bright red drape provided by Bowerbird Events. With the spell broken, the two now dabble over tea and brushed gold macarons created by Gingerhead Cookies. Beautiful furnishings to create a lounge library complete with a cozy red couch and stunner tablescape were provided by Power of Love Rentals.

And of course, the iconic dress which was once yellow, transformed into white by the power of true love’s kiss  set Belle and Adam to be wed and was provided by the boutique salon, Merrime Bride & Soiree. Complementing her cascading bouquet, Sharaya Ellen Artistry created a cascading hair design complete with lush lashes. We had never seen gold roses as vibrant as those that Copper Blossom Design skillfully created her florals around, which was a perfect nod to Belle’s timeless yellow dress. Her appearance was complete with dainty gold details from Mia Donna Diamond and hairpiece from Twigs & Honey.

“I had a surprise location in mind to wrap up the shoot.” Lauren from Lauren Reber Photography explained. “It was perfect. In every way.” So the team piled Belle and Adam into the car and drove back into Portland and pulled up in front of Lewis and Clark College. This old college campus was the perfect backdrop to Beast’s “castle” and their Reflection pool is straight of a fairy tale. The campus was quiet save for the frogs croaking from their hidey-holes in the stone walls surrounding the pools.

This modern spin on Beauty and the Beast exceeded all expectations. Not only were the local vendors involved able to recreate a beloved love story, but also lasting friendships with reputable vendors that we had all desired to work with for some time. This creative outlook allowed those friendships to carry over into our businesses as well which will benefit our future clients.

We hope you enjoy this collaboration and vision as much as we do!
